HONEYMOON TRIP IN PUGLIA: PROGRAM PROPOSAL
1 DAY: Arrival MATERA Arrival in Matera and accommodation in a historic residence.
2 DAY: Food tour of Matera Today is dedicated to the discovery of the magical city of the Sassi, in nearby Basilicata. Matera is an unmissable stop in southern Italy.The guided tour is a unique and exciting journey through history. It includes a visit to a typical cave house and a rock church, and it will be split between the morning and afternoon, so allowing you to visit both the ancient districts of Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso. During the journey we will taste the typical local products and we will visit an artisan shop where the ancient "bread stamps" are made.The evening is free and you will be able to admire the beauty of Matera again at night.
DAY 3: Cooking experience in a typical Apulian farmhouse and Alberobello tour When one thinks of Puglia, one cannot help but think of local gastronomy, made up of very simple products and with “poor” ingredients, but with a unique and easily recognisable flavour. In a typical farm in the Itria Valley, you will try your hand at preparing some of the local foods in the company of the lady of the house, and then taste the dishes prepared in a convivial atmosphere. In the afternoon, you will visit the capital of the trulli: Alberobello. Afterwards, you check into the masseria, where you can relax by the pool in the warm sun.
4 DAY: Puglia to love: boat tour in Polignano a Mare, guided walk in Monopoli Today is dedicated to the sea, starting with a boat tour in Polignano a mare, the birthplace of Domenico Modugno and famous for its views overlooking the sea. The boat ride takes you to some sea caves, accessible by boat, and you can have the exhilarating experience of an offshore swim. Afterwards, we move to the beach in Monopoli, which has very characteristic coves and crystal clear waters. There is free time to relax on the beach and have lunch by the sea.In the late afternoon, at sunset, there is a guided walk in Monopoli. This small historic fishing town is very characteristic and still remains little touched by mass tourism. The guide will take you on a guided tour among legends and local gastronomy. Later, you return to the farm for some free time.
5 DAY: Full day tour of Ostuni, Cisternino and Martina Franca, with light lunch in a typical grill in Cisternino, to taste the typical "bombette" Today, we take you to discover the most beautiful villages of the Itria Valley, an area that is increasingly popular with international VIPs, who choose it for the wonderful countryside, red earth and white dry stone walls, farms and trulli.We take you to see the historic centre of Ostuni, the “White City”, to admire its splendid Romanesque-Gothic cathedral that’s among the most beautiful in Puglia. It’s wonderful to look out over the expanses of dusky coloured olive groves and the blue sea from the panoramic terraces. For the lunch break, we take you to the small village of Cisternino, to a "very local" place, a steakhouse, where you will taste the typical "bombette" of meats, meat rolls, caciocavallo, bacon, oil and pepper plus a platter of cheeses and cured meats, amongst them the famous capocollo of Martina Franca.In the afternoon, you can enjoy a guided walk to Martina Franca, an elegant town with historic buildings of great artistic refinement, Baroque and Rococo churches. Afterwards, you return to the farm and free time.
DAY 6: From the Itria Valley to the Salento sea During the transfer from the Valle d'Itria to Castro, we make a stop in the baroque heart of Puglia, Lecce, where a local guide will not only guide you around the majestic baroque facades of churches and noble palaces, but will also introduce you to some more local flavours, with a street food tour on which you can taste the rustic, Lecce coffee, pittule and pasticciotti. Afterwards, we transfer to Ugento for check-in and free time, and where you can dedicate some time to the sea and relaxation.
7 DAY: Otranto The whole day is dedicated to the sea, the beach and relaxation. For lunch, we take you to a typical Salento farm for a meal based on typical local products. Your afternoon is then free, at leisure, to relax. At sunset, we take you to Otranto, to discover the characteristic historic centre by the sea of the same name, in particular the Romanesque Cathedral, which retains a majestic 12th-century mosaic floor that is still intact.
DAY 8: Free day to dedicate to relaxation, the sea and the beach.
DAY 9: Boat trip to Santa Maria di Leuca at sunset Free day to dedicate to the sea, the beach and relaxation. For this last day we have planned a beautiful boat ride from Santa Maria di Leuca at sunset, where the Ionian and Adriatic seas meet. From the coast it is possible to see numerous Liberty style villas of noble families of the past and also the Leuca lighthouse, a reference point for sailors.
Sadly, this ends your 10 day stay, but with wonderful memories to last a lifetime.
