⇒ TOUR IN BRIEF: We will meet our guide in front of the church of S. Francesco in Corso Giuseppe Mazzini. The visit starts from Piazza S.Oronzo, with the spire of the same name and with an exuberant Baroque decoration. We will continue towards the historic centre where we will be captivated by the many local craft shops. We will also come across numerous panoramic viewpoints from which to admire the expanses of olive trees, which are typical of the Itria Valley and that stretch out towards the sea. Last, but not least, we will arrive at the wonderful cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, dating back to the mid-1400s but of Romanesque design.

Why visit the historic centre of Ostuni?

Ostuni is famed as the "White City" due to its whitewashed houses. They make it visible from afar when arriving by car, helped by the strategically elevated position on the hill.Few people know that the skeleton of a pregnant Paleolithic woman, later called Delia, has been found near Ostuni. These and other archaeological finds are on display in the museum of pre-classic civilisations.Ostuni is also a city of skilled craftspeople, with the processing of ceramics to make the famous whistles and the “Pumo” a lucky charm symbol in ceramic, that are so colourful and varied.

What to see in the historic centre of Ostuni?

Ostuni is a city dedicated to the slow way of life, to the traditions and knowledge of the territory, and where all the major attractions enclosed within the Aragonese walls. Almost totally pedestrianised, it will allow you to leave the car in one of the indicated parking lots and walk, relaxed, following our guide. The guided tour of Ostuni takes place in total safety according to the Health and Safety guidelines provided by the Ministry for tours shared with other people. The groups will be small and all guides wear masks. The meeting place is in Corso Giuseppe Mazzini, in front of the church of St. Francis.

How long does it take to visit the historic centre of Ostuni?

The official duration of the visit is 1 hr and a half but this is a relaxed visit and it often happens that we stay longer in the fascinating areas, where it seems that time has stopped.

Ostuni – the White City: booking online visits

To book your visit simply have to use the online booking system, choosing the date and time you prefer, either morning or afternoon. On hot summer days we suggest a visit from 6pm onwards, and hopefully a spectacular sunset to feast your eyes upon. There are no additional charges on the tour.
