Day 1 - Bari street food (Hotel in Bari)
Independent arrival in Bari and check in selected hotel in the city center.Initial briefing and welcome drink with our guide.Immediately after afternoon tour of the old city in the company of our local guide. You will visit the exteriors of the Swabian castle. You will walk in the street of the "orecchiette" until you get to the Cathedral of San Sabino and the Basilica of San Nicola. You will taste the specialties of Bari street food: focaccia, sgagliozze and panzerotto. Appointment at 15.00 pm at the hotel.
Day 2 - Trani and Castel del Monte (hotel in Matera)
Breakfast and departure from Bari at 9.00 with destination Trani to admire the splendid cathedral on the sea, the port and the ancient Jewish quarter. Observing the slow life of this seaside city will be one of the best moments you will experience on this tour, also because it is a real pearl yet to be discovered.
In the afternoon stop at Castel del Monte, one of the most mysterious and fascinating castles in southern Italy designed by Frederick II of Swabia. Our professional local guide will accompany you on a historical itinerary in order to truly appreciate this monument, a UNESCO site since 1996 and a symbol of Puglia, wanted by the Emperor defined as "Stupor Mundi". Then transfer to Matera and overnight. Tourist tax to be paid locally from €2 to €4 per person per day depending on the season.
Day 3 - Matera (Hotel in Matera)
Breakfast and guided tour in the city of the Sassi at 10.30 starting from Piazza Vittorio Veneto in front of the Banco di Napoli with a panoramic view of the Civita and the Sasso Barisano. We will cross Piazza del Sedile and Via Duomo until we reach the beautiful belvedere. We will enter the rock churches Madonna dell'Idris and San Giovanni Monterrone and a typical cave house.
Free afternoon.
Day 4 - Alberobello and Ostuni (hotel in Lecce)
Breakfast and transfer at 9.00 to Alberobello, a UNESCO site since 1996 and a must-see when you arrive in Puglia. The capital of the trulli has a unique charm and is like no other place. You will know the history of this place which has been handing down for centuries the typical rural architecture that still survives today. Guided tour of the city at 10.30. Our local guide will show you the two districts Aia Piccola and Rione Monti. Extra virgin olive oil tasting. In the afternoon visit of Ostuni. Also called "the white city", Ostuni stands out for its characteristic historic center with houses painted totally in white which the Apulian sun makes seem even brighter.You will be guided through the most important characteristic squares and alleys of the center embellished by the residents up to the cathedral. You will admire the expanse of olive trees bordered by the sea.At the end of traveling back to Lecce, check in.
Day 5 -Lecce (hotel in Lecce)
Breakfast and guided tour of Lecce at 10.30 starting from Piazza Sant'Oronzo, in front of Caffé Alvino.Tour in the Baroque city, among the rich facades of palaces and churches and local craft shops.The route will start from Piazza Sant'Oronzo and wind its way through the ancient village admiring the Cathedral, the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Church of Sant'Irene.Finally, tasting of the typical sweet from Lecce: the pasticciotto.

The dinner planned in Matera was quite disappointing, as to the location and the menu.
Hi Frances, thank you for your comment. All the tours you did were with licensed tour guides (Angela, Stefania, Lucia, Aurora). Nicola was the tour leader in addition to the guided tours. Only in Matera and Lecce you had local guides on site with meeting at the hotel. So I didn't understand when you had to "search" for guides on your own. As for dinner in Matera, the location is usually appreciated because it is exclusive and has a wonderulf view of Matera. The city of Matera is naturally full of climbs, descents, cave houses but this is one of the characteristics of a unique city in the world. I hope you have enjoyed the other aspects of the tour.
